The AAT Access to Accounting course is a high-level course, perfect for those wanting to strengthen their skills in accounting, to get ahead of their peers in their current job, to change to an accounting career, or to help with starting a business.

The AAT Access to Accounting course consists of the following subjects:

Is the AAT Access to Accounting course suitable for me?

This course is the perfect place to start to be on your way to becoming an Accountant or Bookkeeper.

Although there are no minimum requirements, we currently advise the following:

  •  You are 16 years of age or older (or have been consented to undertake this course by your parent or guardian)
  •  Are reasonably fluent in English
  •  Understand simple mathematical principles

Have access to the internet through a PC or a Laptop (Although this course can be run on Mac and Windows computers, the Sage software is only compatible with Mac if you have installed (Boot Camp).

How will the AAT Access to Accounting benefit me?

  •  Use official study material from the biggest accounting system provider in the UK and used worldwide, Sage.
  •  Learn how to use Sage 50 accounting software with first-hand experience, used by businesses all over the UK. (Use of software time-limited)
  •  Understand in more detail how to properly set up Sage 50 accounting software, by learning how to enter a business’s information at the start of   the accounting period, as well as creating customer and supplier accounts.
  •  Be able to enter and process transactions such as sales and purchase invoices, payments and receipts for non-credit bank and cash transactions,   credit notes, frequent transactions, how to process petty cash transactions, allocating payments to specific suppliers, and allocating receipts to  
     each customer.
  •  Understand how to post VAT to the right accounts
  •  Perform recurring period-end tasks like reconciliations and journal processing.
  •  Be able to produce high-quality financial reports for suppliers and business customers, as well as producing financial reports from the general 
     ledger.

Of course, due to our 3-in-1 course, you will be able to understand in great detail all the main fundamentals of accounting, allowing you to understand how to perform a variety of accounting jobs in any business. Once you have finished this course you will obtain AAT qualifications which can improve your job prospects greatly.

This course is a great introduction before you start doing higher-level accounting courses like our AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2), AAT Foundation Award in Accounting Software (Level 2), and AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping (Level 2).

AAT Access to Accounting Exam Details

The AAT requires all students to join as a student member but don’t worry, the membership fee is something we've included for free in our courses! Just be sure to register as a student member within 14 days of your course start date please. This registration allows you to sit any necessary exams and take advantage of the support and resources available. 

Please note, exam fees (where applicable) are not included in the course price. Not all courses have exams. 

This course is compatible with Windows and Mac devices but please note that the Sage 50 software is only compatible with Windows.
